Terms and Community Rules
Effective October 23, 2026
These terms apply when you use Ribbonmark. By using the app, and by signing in to read with other people, you agree to them. Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also applies.
Community rules
Ribbonmark is a calm place to talk about books. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. In handles, pages, asks, answers, reviews, margin notes, circle and club posts and reading-hour lines, don't post:
- harassment, threats, bullying or hate toward anyone, including for their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age;
- sexual content, or anything that sexualises minors;
- violence meant to shock, or encouragement of self-harm;
- spam, advertising, scams, or links meant to mislead;
- other people's private information;
- anything illegal, or that infringes someone else's copyright (a short quote from a book is fine);
- spoilers without warning, where the app offers one.
Reporting and blocking
Words that break these rules are filtered before they're posted. Anyone can report a post, ask, answer, review or reader, and block a reader so neither of you sees the other. Reported content is hidden after several reports while it's looked at, and every report is reviewed within 24 hours. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the account that posted it may be suspended or removed.
Your account and content
- You must be 13 or older to make an account.
- You're responsible for what you post. You keep ownership of it, and give Ribbonmark permission to store it and show it to the people you chose to share it with.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app; what you posted is deleted with it.
- We may remove content or accounts that break these terms.
Purchases
Ribbonmark is free to download. Ribbonmark Plus is a one-time purchase that unlocks extra features on every device signed in to the same Apple Account. Tips are optional and unlock nothing. Purchases are made and refunded through Apple under its terms.
Book information
Book details, covers, ratings and lists come from outside sources (Hardcover, Open Library, Google Books, Apple and The New York Times) and may sometimes be wrong or missing. Suggestions are only suggestions.
The app as it is
Ribbonmark is provided as it is, without warranties. We work to keep your books safe, but keep a backup: we're not liable for lost data or for indirect damages, to the extent the law allows.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Continuing to use Ribbonmark after that means you accept them.
